ABSTRACT
The North/South dichotomy and its attendant effects on the attitudes of Nigerian Muslims to one another has been an engaging topic in Nigeria, for some time. The unpalatable situation has degenerated into a relationship of hostility between the northern Muslims and their southern counterparts. This paper focusses on the central role of the Ramadan Moonsighting factor in the internal division and disintegration that are currently being experienced by the Nigerian Muslim community, and suggests a modern Islamic mechanism to remedy or ameliorate the unfavourable religious climate in the country.[1]
